Adaption of New Rules

  • Social Gatherings

Beginning June 6, live entertainment and events are permitted in Dubai for a month period, which may extend depending upon the following SOPs.

Sporting events, concerts, social and institutional gatherings are permissible as long as the audience, participants, and personnel have received vaccination against Covid-19.

The maximum number of people allowed to attend large public events that require permits is currently 1,500 for indoor events and 2,500 for outdoor activities.

At restaurants, around a max of ten people can sit at a table, but for cafes limited to six only. Malls and cinemas allow restrictions on capacity.

This year, Private Schools can celebrate in-person graduation ceremonies.

  • Wedding

At venues and hotels, weddings can be celebrated, with a maximum number of 100 guests only. The number of people that can attend a wedding at home must not exceed 30.

Hotels can be fully booked (up from 70%), and entertainment venues can expand their capacity to 70% (up from 50%).

  • Places of Worship

All the places of worship, including churches, mosques, and temples have reopened.

Churches are open with a 30% capacity limit, and worshippers can reserve their visits online to avoid crowding.

Mosques can open to 50% capacity for all prayers, except Friday, which limits to 30%. After closing in March 2020, Dubai’s women’s prayer halls reopened on June 7.

With limited admittance hours, Hindu temples can accommodate up to 30% of their maximum capacity.

  • Face Masks

Wearing face masks is necessary for both public and private events, and individuals must keep a physical distance of two meters from one another. If failed to wear a mask, you might receive heavy fine from authorities.

When is it permissible to remove a face mask?

Face masks are “a must” in public throughout the UAE, with fines of Dh3,000 imposed on those who don’t comply.

To protect themselves from illness, people should wear face masks whenever possible while in public. However, there are times when you can remove it without risking a fine, such as at a pool or in a restaurant.

Individuals can remove their masks while doing exercise in Dubai. People in Abu Dhabi must wear masks when exercising, but they can remove them at any time if they feel unwell or need to catch their breath.

Exemptions for fully Vaccinated Residents

People who have had their second vaccine dosage at least 28 days, are deemed completely/fully vaccinated and can be eligible for specific exemptions.

An individual’s Al Hosn app will display a circled E as proof of “vaccinated”. The carrier no longer requires a DPI or PCR test result to enter Abu Dhabi once this occurs. They will not need to quarantine if they come to Abu Dhabi from a green country, and only five days quarantine in case, if they come into contact with someone who has Covid-19.

Unvaccinated people without a medical exemption will be unable to attend “live events” starting June 6 in all emirates except Dubai, which has its own set of laws. Exhibitions and events including cultural, sports, art and social activities have been included, but malls and cinemas stay excluded. Only vaccinated people can attend large events such as concerts or weddings, as well as enter, taverns, and nightclubs in Dubai. DJs and musicians, must receive vaccines if they want to perform at events and gatherings.

Travelling rules between Abu Dhabi and another Emirate for Vaccinated people

Fully vaccinated residents or anyone who has an E or star on their Al Hosn app can enter the emirate without having to take another test. . Although a vaccinated person must take a PCR test at least once a week to activate these icons.

Covid-19 Rules in Abu Dhabi

The only capacity of 40% is allowed in malls. For public places, like beaches, parks, hotels and restaurants capacity of fullness must not increase by 60%. Cinemas, gyms, and pools stay open but again with capacity limits of 30 and 50 per cent respectively.

Public transport is under strict supervision and must not be 100% full instead only 45% of Taxis and buses must have only 75% of passengers.

Remember, Private parties and gatherings still have strict bans. Citizens failed to abide by this restriction, are going to face heavy penalties in form of fines.

Who can’t be vaccinated?

The Ministry of Health and Prevention must then exempt you. Six sorts of people, excused from vaccinations can be:

  1. Patients that are currently suffering from Covid-19
  2. Pregnant women
  3. Children under the age of 1
  4. People infected in the past, determined by a medical examination.
  5. Those who are allergic to vaccines or any of their ingredients, as well as those with conditions that may “conflict with the vaccine,” as evaluated by a doctor.
  6. People, are already vaccinated in some other countries.

Fill out the exemption form on the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s website to apply for an exemption. The applicant will be notified via message if accepted or declined. It will automatically appear on the Al Hosn application if successful.

Residents and visitors can also use the Al Hosn application or present an electronic certificate on their phone to prove their vaccination status.

What happens if you come into contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19?

The rules differ slightly from one emirate to the next. Typically, health officials will summon you for testing and then urge you to isolate yourself for ten days. You have to wear a tracking bracelet in Abu Dhabi and a retest is a must on the eighth day before, withdrawal.

Authorities in Dubai have ordered that if someone comes into contact for more than 15 minutes, with a person having Covid-19 must quarantine at home for ten days.
